Reunited synthpop favorites Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark will spend September and October finishing up English Electric, their planned 12th studio album and the follow-up to 2010’s very well-received comeback record History of Modern, the group announced this morning in an e-mail to fans.

On July 13, 1991, Aussie rockers INXS played to a sold-out crowd of 72,000 fans at London’s Wembley Stadium, exactly six years to the day after Live Aid was held at the same venue. The concert was recorded for a live album and film, and in this installment of Vintage Video, we present the entire 90-minute “Live Baby Live” concert film.

The Mission will document their ongoing 25th anniversary reunion this fall with a limited-edition 3-disc CD/DVD set called Silver that features two full concerts recorded last year and part of a third on either DVD or Blu-ray, plus a bonus CD featuring near-complete audio from one of the gigs as well.

David Gedge and The Wedding Present this fall will offer fans an unusual look into the making of their latest album — Valentina, which came out in March — via a 64-page hardback book that promises a “behind-the-scenes account” of the album’s recording complete with rare photos and track-by-track commentary.

Before revving up his new band Poltergeist with former bandmate Les Pattinson, guitarist Will Sergeant of Echo & The Bunnymen recorded a fan-funded, acoustic instrumental solo album called ‘Things Inside’, which is now available for purchase — and can be sampled via the three tracks that are streaming here.

This week’s Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour on Strangeways Radio featured new and previously unreleased music from Kate Bush, Morrissey, Paul Weller and Madness, plus old favorites from INXS, Pixies, Love and Rockets, Peter Gabriel, The Lucy Show, Cocteau Twins and R.E.M.

Devo later this month will release a song called “Don’t Roof Rack, Me Bro! (Remember Seamus)” — a track about Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s infamous 1983 road trip in which he transported the family dog from Massachusetts to Ontario in a kennel strapped to the roof of the family station wagon.
