The Chameleons next week will reissue their fourth album — 2001’s post-reunion Why Call It Anything — in an expanded 2CD set paired with a live album, as well as release a brand new compilation called Dreams in Celluloid that will package demos and early studio takes with the rare Tony Fletcher EP.

Synth pioneer Gary Numan has expanded what was to be a very short run of West Coast dates in late summer by adding concerts in the Eastern U.S. this October leading up to a pair of opening slots on Nine Inch Nails’ fall arena tour in October. All told, Numan is now planning 13 North American shows through Oct. 31.

The Cure next month will warm up for its pair of early August festival dates in North America — the band is playing both Lollapalooza in Chicago and Osheaga Festival Musique et Arts in Montreal the weekend of Aug. 2-4 — with its first-ever Hawaiian concert, a July 30 headlining date in Honolulu.

This month’s tape features brand-new music from Nine Inch Nails and Miracle Legion’s Mark Mulcahy, plus classics from Talking Heads, Richard Hell, Billy Bragg, Midnight Oil, Galaxie 500, Screaming Blue Messiahs, Elvis Costello, Gang of Four, Pylon, Orange Juice, Sugar and much more.

With his new book “Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music,” author S. Alexander Reed — a University of Florida music theory professor and frontman of ThouShaltNot — has compiled what is being billed as both the “first serious study published on industrial music” and the “definitive treatment of the genre.”

When The Ocean Blue was in Seattle this past February, the band’s frontman, David Schelzel, stopped by radio station KEXP (90.3 FM) for an on-air set and interview, performing new single “Sad Night, Where Is Morning,” classic track “Drifting, Falling” and a cover of Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without a Face.”
