Morrissey’s long-in-the-works autobiography — titled, appropriately, “Autobiography” — was set to be published next week, but the singer claims a last-minute and heretofore unexplained “content disagreement” with Penguin Classics “has caused the venture to collapse,” leaving the former Smiths frontman in search of a new publisher.

Turns out Erasure isn’t the only group delivering a new holiday record this year: Southern California punk kings Bad Religion will put a decidedly rougher spin on seasonal classics like “Hark! The Herald Angles Sing” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” next month with the release of the aptly titled Christmas Songs.

Billy Bragg will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album Life’s a Riot with Spy vs. Spy — featuring the singer-songwriter’s classic “A New England” — next month with a new reissue that features a newly remastered version of the original record plus a live solo version of the full album recorded in London.

Mazzy Star — the reunited dream-pop duo that David Roback of Rain Parade and Opal formed in the late ’80s with then-future Jesus and Mary Chain collaborator Hope Sandoval — this week announced a 14-date North American tour this fall in support of Seasons of Your Day, the group’s first new album in 17 years.
