Two weeks out from the release of Thurston Moore’s new solo album, ‘Demolished Thoughts,’ the Sonic Youth frontman has released a video for first single ‘Benediction.’

We celebrated Dave Gahan’s birthday this morning with some vintage Depeche Mode concert footage, but the band one-upped us with today’s release of a brand-new video for ‘Personal Jesus’ (Stargate Mix) off the upcoming ‘Remixes 2: 81-11’ compilation.

A four-song EP of Joy Division re-recordings that Peter Hook had planned to release this week has been delayed by unspecified legal issues, the bassist said today in an announcement that suggests the release may never see the light of day.

Ousted keyboardist Lol Tolhurst will rejoin The Cure after 22 years to help perform the band’s first three albums — 1979’s ‘Three Imaginary Boys,’ 1980’s ‘Seventeen Seconds’ and 1981’s ‘Faith’ — in their entirety on May 31 and June 1 at the Vivid Live Festival at Australia’s famed Sydney Opera House.
