Poptone — the band featuring Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins that performs a Tones on Tail-heavy set, along with music by Bauhaus and Love and Rockets — will embark on a new run of North American dates this May, playing eight just-announced concerts up and down the West Coast. Full details here.

Former Throwing Muses bandmates — and step-sisters — Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly re-teamed on stage in Boston over the weekend, playing three shows together at City Winery. The performances featured separate solo sets each by Donelly and Hersh, plus a joint encore of the Muses’ “Two Step,” the last song on The Real Ramona

The Violent Femmes are headed back out on tour this June, having just announced a 10-date run of shows in the western U.S. that includes a slot at the Arroyo Seco Weekend festival in Pasadena, Calif., alongside Neil Young, Jack White, Robert Plant, Kings of Leon and The Pretenders. David Byrne stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Friday night to perform current single “Everybody’s Coming To My House,” and, in the process, show off his highly inventive, and very much untethered, stage show. Byrne and his wireless band roamed the stage, then joined Colbert at his desk.

Johnny Marr has been documenting the recording of his third solo album on social media of late, and today the former guitarist for The Smiths revealed the upcoming LP’s title: Call the Comet. It’s not yet known when the album will arrive, though Marr tweeted “news coming soon.”

The years-in-the-making, crowdfunded documentary “New Wave: Dare to Be Different” — director Ellen Goldfarb’s star-studded account of the hugely influential New York alternative station WLIR 92.7 FM — will debut on the Showtime cable network later this month. See the trailer right here.
