Matt Johnson this week announced he’ll release a new 7-inch by The The for Record Store Day next month, a single called “I WANT 2 B U” that finds the musician writing and recording with the “quirky Omnichord instrument” for the first time since he used in on 1983’s “This Is the Day.” Hear a short sample here.
It took The Cravats — skronky veterans of U.K. punk’s fabled Class of 1977 — some 37 years to follow up their debut album The Cravats in Toytown with sophomore LP Dustbin of Sound. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Depeche Mode continues its celebration of the 12-inch single with the latest in its series of vinyl box sets, this one celebrating 1990’s mammoth Violator album with a 10-disc collection of the various 12-inches released to promote that record. Echo & The Bunnymen today announced a pair of warm-up concerts in San Diego and San Luis Obispo, Calif., in the days leading up to the band’s appearance at the Morrissey-headlined Cruel World festival outside of Los Angeles in early May. Check out full details right here.
