Peter Buck finally announced his debut solo album today, posting a note on R.E.M.’s website that reveals the album — we’re still not sure what it’s called; he doesn’t mention its title — will be released this Friday in a super-limited, 2,000-copy vinyl-only run by Portland, Ore.-based Mississippi Records.
4AD and reissue imprint Beggars Archive this week announced a new special-edition 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Junk Yard,’ the second album from Nick Cave’s pre-Bad Seeds outfit The Birthday Party. The set will feature the album on 12-inch, the ‘Release the Bats’ single on 7-inch and a CD combining both.
Dinosaur Jr next month will follow up this spring’s release of the DVD and Blu-ray ‘Bug Live at 9:30 Club: In the Hands of the Fans’ with a super-limited, purple-vinyl pressing of that performance, recorded June 25, 2011,at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. More than a year after it was first announced, it appears the double-vinyl release of The Cure’s expanded ‘Entreat Plus’ live album finally will see a U.S. release on Record Store Day — although it’s not an exclusive RSD release, meaning it could be available at non-participating or non-indie stores and will be sold online.
Kate Bush today announced that she’ll participate in next month’s fifth-anniversary installment of Record Store Day by releasing a limited-edition, two-track 10-inch vinyl picture disc featuring the songs ‘Lake Tahoe’ and ‘Among the Angels,’ both of which can be found on her 2011 studio album ’50 Words for Snow.’
Having released 1991′s ‘Laughing Stock’ on vinyl for the first time ever last year, Talk Talk continues to reissue its catalog, this time with 1986’s ‘The Colour of Spring’ and 1988’s ‘Spirit of Eden’ set for an April release on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with an accompanying DVD featuring a new 96 kHz/24 bit LPCM stereo mix.
The revered final album from Talk Talk — 1991′s ‘Laughing Stock,’ which saw the English group fully abandon its synthpop roots for a more a more experimental sound — will receive its first-ever vinyl release in the U.S. this fall alongside a reissue of frontman Mark Hollis’ lone solo album, originally released in 1998.
