The Pixies today followed up last week’s free release of a surprise new track with more revelations, namely that the band is about to embark on a “massive global tour” to debut material off its follow-up to 1991’s Trompe le Monde with The Muffs frontwoman Kim Shattuck replacing the departed Kim Deal.

Two weeks after announcing the departure of bassist Kim Deal, the Pixies this morning surprised fans with the release of “Bagboy,” the band’s first new song since 2004 and one that sounds like may feature the backing vocals of the group’s now-former bassist. But it doesn’t.

Trent Reznor’s resurrected Nine Inch Nails this morning released the music video for comeback single “Came Back Haunted,” and not only is the clip directed by cinematic auteur David Lynch, it carries a warning that its strobe-like effects may cause seizures among viewers with epilepsy. So you’ve been warned.

For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present a series of clips of what host Dave Kendall announces as “the first-ever international edition of ‘120 Minutes,'” broadcast in August 1991 from England’s Reading Festival. Kendall chats up The Sisters of Mercy’s Andrew Eldritch and members of Sonic Youth, Nitzer Ebb and James.

Here it is: The first footage, albeit just 9 seconds and shot through the sliding-glass door of a rehearsal space, of The Replacements, together again and performing in 2013. The band’s official Facebook page shared video of the ‘Mats running through performing “Alex Chilton.”

For this week’s Vintage Video, we again look to rescue a classic-period concert film from VHS obscurity, this time presenting, in full, the out-of-print Tears For Fears home video “In My Mind’s Eye: Live at Hammersmith Odeon,” a concert filmed in London in December 1983 and released in 1984.
