It’s no secret that Morrissey fans are among the most devoted in modern music, which is why this is such a delightful find: “Love Bites,” a 38-minute documentary about the ex-Smiths frontman’s fans from 1995, filmed largely on Moz’s “Boxers” tour of the U.K. that February.

On New Year’s Day, the UK’s BBC Four aired a new 75-minute documentary called “The Clash: New Year’s Day ’77” put together by filmmaker Julien Temple and built around his own, previously unseen footage of the of the band performing on Jan. 1, 1977, at the Roxy club.

Just weeks after revealing “I think I will sing again” in a TV interview, R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe took to the stage Monday night in New York City as the unannounced opening act for Patti Smith at Webster Hall, performing a six-song set that included two numbers by his old band and four covers.

The Cure delivered a marathon 40-song set tonight at London’s Eventim Apollo that included a full performance of 1984’s The Top, the live debut of rare B-side “A Man Inside My Mouth” and the reintroduction of songs not played live in decades. The band will perform again Monday and Tuesday nights.

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe appeared on “CBS This Morning” today to help promote the band’s recently released “REMTV” DVD box set, discussing the band’s history and his own future and the (un)likelihood that we’ll ever see an R.E.M. reunion (“That will never happen. There’s no point.”).

In conjunction with the release this month of the 25th anniversary reissue of the Pixies’ classic second album Doolittle, the 4AD label has produced a 30-minute promotional film in which guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lowering reflect back on the making of the record.
