Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins debuted their new project Poptone on Thursday night with the first of two performances at a Los Angeles studio, playing, as expected, an 18-song set heavy on their short-lived early ’80s post-Bauhaus project Tones on Tail. For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we present the out-of-print, oft-bootlegged Public Image Ltd. concert film “Anarchy Movie ’85,” which only ever was released officially on VHS in Japan. This VHS transfer has surprisingly great picture and audio quality.

The Factory Theatre in suburban Sydney, Australia, on Saturday hosted a 25th anniversary tribute to The Cure’s ninth album Wish that was headlined by Steve Kilbey of The Church, and featured a number of Sydney-area musicians performing songs off that record and Robert Smith and Co.’s back catalog.

Reunited Minneapolis punk trio The Suicide Commandos have just released a music video for “Boogie’s Coldest Acre,” off the band’s very belated follow-up to their 1978 debut Make a Record. The 13-track Time Bomb will be released May 5 on the newly reactivated Twin/Tone Records label.

Buying a ticket to a Morrissey concert remains a dicey proposition, with the latest mishap coming Monday night in Tucson, Ariz., as the former Smiths singer left the stage with vocal issues during the night’s sixth song, “Everyday is Like Sunday” — leaving fans far short of a full show.

When Daniel Ash goes out on tour with Kevin Haskins as Poptone, their set will largely be comprised of songs by their old bands: Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, and Tones on Tail. But there is one Ash solo track that appears on the leaked Poptone setlist: “Flame On.” Now the song’s got a new video.
