Last Friday night, Peter Murphy played a one-off concert in Los Angeles — an event dubbed “Stan Lee’s In Parties” — to help kick off the weekened-long Comikaze comic-book, sci-fi and fantasy fest. It was a fairly standard set from Murphy… except for the opening number, which found Murphy dueting with Lee on “That Old Black Magic.”

Fans had to wait an extra seven months after his February tour was rescheduled, but Adam Ant finally opened his first U.S. tour in 16 years last week, performing a hit-filled, 28-song set at Los Angeles’ Mayan Theatre on Thursday night. Bernard Sumner previously has hinted that New Order — which reunited last year without bassist Peter Hook — may write new music, but now he’s talking about it in detail for the first time, telling interviewers that the band will meet early next year to begin writing new material with an eye on making an ‘electronic synth album.’

Talking Heads spinoff Tom Tom Club — husband-and-wife rhythm section Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz — today premiered the music video for “Downtown Rockers,” the title track of their just-released new EP, the duo’s first new release in a dozen years. The video features cameos from Debbie Harry and Richard Hell.

Soundgarden tonight revealed the cover art and an 85-second teaser video for its forthcoming record ‘King Animal,’ the reunited group’s first new studio album in 16 years. The album arrives Nov. 13, and will be Soundgarden’s first since ‘Down on the Upside’ in 1996.

For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present a somewhat odd pairing: Downtown Julie Brown — better known for hosting “Club MTV” than her occasional Sunday night stints — running through a “120 Minutes X-Ray” segment on U.K. post-punk act The Lucy Show on the Jan. 25, 1987, episode.

As we’ve reported, The Mission will document its ongoing 25th anniversary reunion this fall with a limited-edition 3-disc CD/DVD set called Silver that features two full concerts recorded last year and part of a third on either DVD or Blu-ray, plus a bonus CD featuring near-complete audio from one of the gigs as well.
