The Violent Femmes have got that co-headlining thing down cold. After two summers of sharing the bill with the Echo & The Bunnymen, the Femmes are heading out this summer first with X, on a run of previously announced dates, to be followed by a run of shows with piano man Ben Folds. It was finally supposed to happen. Peter Murphy’s weeks-long San Francisco residency — originally scheduled for summer 2017, then rescheduled not once, but three times — was set to begin tonight with a performance of his solo debut Should the World Fail to Fall Apart. Yet Murphy failed to show up.
Morrissey today announced he’ll mount a seven-night residency on New York City’s famed Broadway this May, with his handlers promising fans will get a “rare opportunity to see the star branch out into new territory and take the stage like never before.” Full details right here.

To celebrate the Record Store Day release of the “Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records” documentary and its soundtrack, Vans will sponsor a half-dozen screening events in North America that will include a panel discussion and a “Wax Trax!-era” live set by Ministry.
After two consecutive summers of touring with Echo & The Bunnymen, the Violent Femmes will mix it up this year and head out on the road in May for a short co-headlining tour with X. The trek opens May 5 in San Diego and runs through May 17 in St. Louis, Mo., with a few Violent Femmes-only shows on either side.
