Peter Murphy this week announced a late-summer concert at Hollywood’s famed Roxy Theatre, part of a 50-band Sunset Strip Music Festival that will be headlined by Marilyn Manson and celebrate the music of The Doors. Other acts on the bill include Bad Religion, The Offspring and De La Soul.

Dates continue to slip out for The Jesus and Mary Chain’s late-summer return to North America, with concerts in Philadelphia and Madison, Wisc., joining the expanding roster. According to WXPN, JAMC will play Philly’s Union Transfer on Sept. 8, while a Sept. 19 date at Madison’s Majestic Theatre is appearing on multiple websites.

A five-date U.K. arena tour planned for this September featuring The Cult with support from a pair of freshly reunited contemporaries — The Mission and the original lineup of Killing Joke — has been downsized to smaller venues in what is almost certainly a sign of shockingly poor ticket sales.

Bob Mould will release a new album called ‘Silver Age’ that Merge Records likens to the ‘punishingly loud, melodically sparkling pop/rock vein of the Sugar catlalog’ — a fitting comparison, since Mould will tour the album in the U.S. this fall by playing that band’s ‘Copper Blue’ front-to-back.

Danish indie-pop combo Efterklang premiered its forthcoming album ‘Piramida’ by performing it in full at the Sydney Opera House backed by a symphony orchestra and a new touring drummer: Budgie, of Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Creatures, who will join the band on a series of fall European dates.

John Lydon’s reactivated Public Image Ltd. is planning a North American tour later this year, the group announced on its website today. No details have been released about the trek, which comes more than two years after PiL’s post-Coachella tour of North America in the spring of 2010.

The Pogues will embark on a short run of European dates later this summer, culminating with a pair of back-to-back concerts in Paris this September that are being billed as a 30th anniversary celebration that will be filmed and recorded for both a future live CD and DVD release.
