It’s long been expected that the next installment in U2’s ongoing reissue campaign would be the band’s landmark 1991 album ‘Achtung Baby,’ and today we received some confirmation — via indie rocker/producer John Vanderslice, of all people — that such a release is in the works.

The fifth album from The Jam — 1980’s ‘Sound Affects,’ home to U.K. No. 1 single ‘Start!’ and the classic ‘That’s Entertainment’ — is set to be reissued this fall as a 30th anniversary double-disc Deluxe Edition featuring eight previously unreleased tracks.

This afternoon, the Andy Partridge-run Ape House Records offered an update on the forthcoming double-vinyl reissue of XTC’s 1986 album ‘Skylarking,’ declaring the new corrected edition of the album ‘is about 30 percent better sounding than any previously heard.’

The first two solo albums by former Ultravox frontman Midge Ure — 1985’s ‘The Gift’ and 1988’s ‘Answers to Nothing’ — are set to be reissued next month in expanded 2CD editions, each featuring digitally remastered versions of the original albums and a full contingent of B-sides, mixes and live tracks, some of which are previously unreleased.

Former Flesh for Lulu frontman Nick Marsh next week will reissue his self-released 2006 solo debut — the 11-track ‘A Universe Between Us’ — in the U.K., and is relaunching the album with a pair of just-released music videos and a special concert Sunday night in London.

The first two albums by Robyn Hitchcock’s late-’70s/early-’80s neo-psychedelic band The Soft Boys — 1979’s ‘A Can of Bees’ and 1980’s classic ‘Underwater Moonlight’ — will be reissued in stripped-down CD and audiophile vinyl editions that come with new download-only bonus tracks.
