The Wedding Present will embark on an extensive reissue campaign later this years as Edsel Records re-releases much of David Gedge and Co.’s ’80s and ’90s output — five albums, two compilations and an EP — in expanded multi-disc sets crammed with as-yet-unspecified bonus material in both audio and video form.

The Butthole Surfers this fall will reissue their first four full-length albums — 1984’s Psychic… Powerless… Another Man’s Sac, 1986’s Rembrandt Pussyhorse, 1987’s Locust Abortion Technician and 1988’s Hairway to Steven — on vinyl for the first time since their original Touch and Go Records pressings.

The three long-out-of-print studio albums released by the original lineup of The Lords of the New Church — the so-called postpunk supergroup that featured frontman Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys and guitarist Brian James of The Damned — between 1982 and 1984 will be reissued on CD this fall.

The 3CD/1DVD box set commemorating the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s third and final album In Utero that was announced last month will include a brand-new mix of the album, a host of B-sides, compilation cuts, alternate mixes and early demos — plus a previously unheard instrumental.

XTC will follow up its just-announced expanded reissue of 1992’s Nonsuch with a similarly made-over re-release of the band’s classic 1979 album Drums and Wires sometime next spring that will feature a new 5.1 Surround mix that Andy Partridge reveals is “so good it’s upped my opinion of the album.”

XTC this week launched the first of what promises to be a new series of expanded reissues, beginning with the band’s 1992 album Nonusch, which will be re-released this fall with new 5.1 Surround, stereo and high-res stereo mixes as well as Andy Partridge home demos and Colin Moulding work tapes.
