This summer, Plain Recordings will reissue Spiritualized’s 1993 live album Fucked Up Inside — originally issued as a 1,000-copy mail-order edition — on 180-gram vinyl in a reproduction of the original silver foil-embossed sleeve. The new edition of the seven-track live album will be limited to 3,000 copies,

A new 50-song compilation of early R.E.M. material called Complete Rarities: I.R.S. 1982-1987 is due out digitally next month, but appears to be largely, if not completely, comprised of tracks previously assembled on 1987’s out-of-print Dead Letter Office, a more recent I.R.S. years best-of and singles.

The 1983 debut from The The — Soul Mining, featuring the singles “Uncertain Smile” and “This is the Day” — will receive a 30th anniversary reissue this summer in the former of a deluxe 2LP set that will include the remastered album on one 180-gram vinyl platter and six remixes and B-sides on the other.

The 1993 major-label debut from psychedelic experimental rockers Butthole Surfers — Independent Worm Saloon, produced by Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and featuring the single “Who Was In My Room Last Night?” — will be reissued this fall on 180-gram vinyl by Plain Recordings.

One of the truly wonderful aspects of Record Store Day is the ability to dredge up long-forgotten releases and grant them new life, as the Captured Tracks label is doing this year with Bok Bok, the blink-and-you-missed it project from Buzzcocks bassist Steve Garvey and drummer Karl Burns of The Fall.

The classic third album from Matthew Sweet — 1991’s Girlfriend, featuring the twin guitar attack of Robert Quine and Television’s Richard Lloyd — will be reissued on 180-gram vinyl this fall by Plain Recordings in what’s being billed as the record’s first time back on 12-inch since its initial release.
