Seminal British shoegazers Ride — signed to Creation Records in the late ’80s — next month will release a 20th anniversary reissue of their sophomore album ‘Going Blank Again’ that will packaged with the DVD debut of the 1992 VHS release ‘Going Blank Again: Live at Brixton Academy’ featuring newly mixed audio.

There’s a flurry of activity coming from The English Beat — or as they’re more properly known, The Beat — as Shout! Factory this week announced plans to release both a new single-disc best-of and a 5CD box set featuring the band’s three albums and two discs of bonus material.

The complete studio output of Bob Mould’s acclaimed post-Hüsker Dü trio Sugar — 1992’s landmark ‘Copper Blue,’ the 1993 companion EP ‘Beaster’ and 1994 sophomore album ‘File Under: Easy Listening’ — will be reissued in the U.K. later this spring in expanded multi-disc CD/DVD editions.

After years of delays, Sony Music today announced that remastered version of My Bloody Valentine’s two albums — 1988′s ‘Isn’t Anything’ and 1991’s ‘Loveless’ — finally will be released this May alongside the new 2CD set ‘EPs 1988-1991,’ which will compile EPs, B-sides and three previously unreleased tracks.

If you didn’t buy The Smiths’ ‘Complete’ box set last year because you’d rather cherry pick which albums to get, you’re in luck: Later this month, Rhino Records will release, in the U.K., standalone CD editions of each title in the set — all four of the band’s studio album, plus three compilations and a live album.

Having released 1991′s ‘Laughing Stock’ on vinyl for the first time ever last year, Talk Talk continues to reissue its catalog, this time with 1986’s ‘The Colour of Spring’ and 1988’s ‘Spirit of Eden’ set for an April release on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with an accompanying DVD featuring a new 96 kHz/24 bit LPCM stereo mix.

It’s good news/bad news for My Bloody Valentine fans: The endlessly delayed reissue of 1988’s ‘Isn’t Anything’ and 1991’s ‘Loveless’ — the latter featuring an unreleased alternate mix by Kevin Shields — no longer have release dates, but Sony Music is planning to release an MBV disc entitled ‘EPs 1988-1991’ this spring.

Morrissey next month will reissue his 1988 debut ‘Viva Hate’ in a new edition remastered by original producer Stephen Street and featuring a tweaked tracklist and modified artwork — and he’ll follow that a month later with a 10-inch single released for Record Store Day featuring a previously announced remix of ‘Suedehead’ by Sparks.

Dinosaur Jr is back in the recording studio, working on its follow-up to 2009’s ‘Farm,’ according to bassist Lou Barlow’s daily Twitter account of the sessions, which includes an apparent admonition from the band’s management to ‘stop tweeting.’

The Human League — set to release an expanded 2CD edition of its 1981 synthpop classic ‘Dare’ this March — this week announced XXXV: The 2012 Tour, a 14-date U.K. trek planned for this November and December that will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the band’s formation in Sheffield, England.

Pulp’s trip across the pond to play the two-weekend Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this April brings added benefit to fans in New York City and San Francisco, as Jarvis Cocker and Co. this morning announced gigs in those cities — as well as a Spanish festival date — on the band’s website.

Beggars Archive will reissue the Cocteau Twins’ 18-track compilation ‘Stars and Topsoil: A Collection (1982-1990)’ — originally released by 4AD in 2000 and spanning 1982 debut ‘Garlands’ through 1990’s ‘Iceblink Luck’ EP — in the U.K. early next year on a 2LP set on white vinyl.

With their first new studio album in 20 years due in 2012, John Lydon’s reunited Public Image Ltd. will kick off the new year by reissuing nearly its entire back catalog on CD in the U.K., using the same the same newly remastered editions that were released this past summer in Japan in the high-quality SHM-CD format.
