The B-52s this summer will release an expanded 30th anniversary reissue of their fifth album Cosmic Thing, the record that served as a comeback following the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson and catapulted the Athens, Ga., party band into orbit with hit single “Love Shack.” Check out the full tracklist here.
Joy Division and the band’s famed art director Peter Saville have teamed up with London fashion retailer Goodhood to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Unknown Pleasures by reissuing the album on ruby red vinyl and in a white sleeve “resembling the original design idea.” Full details here.
Depeche Mode will continue its series of vinyl box set reissue with the release next month of Black Celebration: The 12″ Singles and Music For The Masses: The 12″ Singles, a pair of multi-disc collections featuring the original UK 12-inch singles that accompanied each album. The 1983 debut album by San Francisco new-wave rockers Wire Train — which spawned the singles “Chamber of Hellos,” “I’ll Do You” and “Never” — will be reissued on CD this week, expanded with six bonus tracks including B-sides, remixes and a cover of Neil Young’s “Mr. Soul.”
New Order will reissue its debut album Movement in a “Definitive Edition” boxed set next April, a 4-disc collection that will include the original album on both vinyl and CD as well as a bonus CD filled with previously unreleased demos and a DVD of live appearances. Full tracklist right here.
Synthpop favorites Erasure next year will release a 30th anniversary expanded reissue of their chart-topping fourth album, 1989’s Wild!, featuring a bonus disc filled with B-sides, remixes and other rarities — including five previously unreleased mixes and live cuts. R.E.M. will continue its album-by-album reissue series with a 25th anniversary re-release of its ninth studio album Monster next October, the band’s manager, Bertis Downs, revealed today in a post on the group’s website reminiscing about the genesis of that record. And, he notes, 2020 will be the band’s 40th anniversary.
