Speaking to Slicing Up Eyeballs from a San Francisco recording studio last week, David J discusses his new mortality-themed album ‘Not Long For This World,’ his recent theatrical work, the ‘sense of completion’ he feels following the Bauhaus and Love and Rockets reunions — and his recent performances with an L&R tribute act.

Howard Jones chatted with Slicing Up Eyeballs via e-mail about his upcoming ‘Human’s Lib’/’Dream Into Action’ tour of the U.K., revisiting those touchstone albums, making the transition back into electronic music (not to mention his dislike of the word “keytar”) — and what all that means for his follow-up to 2009′s ‘Ordinary Heroes.’

Peter Murphy embarks on another U.S. tour on Thursday, and in advance of that, he spoke to Slicing Up Eyeballs about the making of ‘Ninth,’ how that record drew inspiration from the Bauhaus reunion album ‘Go Away White’ and how he re-teamed with Mick Karn to make a new Dalis Car EP prior to the bassist’s death.

Joey Santiago tells Slicing Up Eyeballs that the Pixies have discussed making a new record, but that notion remains in the ‘chit-chat phase.’ The guitarist, however, is all for it: ‘I’d like to give it a shot, just to see what we’d come out with. Certainly, we don’t have to put it out if it sucks.’

Slicing Up Eyeballs checks in once again with Peter Hook on the eve of bringing Joy Division’s ‘Closer’ to the U.S., and the bassist says he may next perform ‘Still’ — and could even dip into New Order’s catalog ‘to annoy Bernard even more.’

Prefab Sprout’s Paddy McAloon recently agreed to answer some questions from Slicing Up Eyeballs via e-mail. He discussed finishing ‘Let’s Change the World With Music,’ offered his thoughts on songwriting and whether he cares about pleasing his audience, and speculated as to whether the world can, in fact, be changed with music.
