Our year-long Best of the ’80s feature continues this month as we turn to 1981, and once again ask Slicing Up Eyeballs’ readers to weigh in on their favorite albums of that year in our ongoing quest to rank the releases of each year of the decade over the course of 2013.

Today we’re launching a new ongoing ongoing Best of the ’80s feature in which, each month for the rest of 2013, we’ll ask Slicing Up Eyeballs’ readers to weigh in on their favorite albums of each year, beginning with 1980 this month through November’s look at 1989. Then, in December, we’ll do the best of the decade.

We’re counting down the top 10 albums of 2012 as voted on by Slicing Up Eyeballs readers earlier this month. This list includes albums released this year by Dinosaur Jr, Ultravox, Public Image Ltd., Killing Joke, The Fixx, Pet Shop Boys, members of Depeche Mode, Dead Can Dance and more.

Today we count down our readers votes’ for the Top 10 songs of the year from ’80s alternative artists, and the countdown for 2012 includes tracks released this past year by Depeche Mode, Paul Westerberg, Public Image Ltd., Dead Can Dance, Dinosaur Jr, Bob Mould, Adam Ant and more.
