Manic Street Preachers are set to release a comprehensive, 38-track singles collection called National Treasures this fall, a collection they’re capping off with a brand-new single: a cover of the The The classic ‘This Is The Day,’ off 1983′s ‘Soul Mining.’

The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Jim Reid this morning unveiled a brand-new song via the group’s Twitter, a track called ‘Black and Blues’ that may or may not be earmarked for a new Mary Chain record. The song is posted to Reid’s Soundcloud page with the note, ‘What I’ve been wasting my time with lately.’

Next month, The Japanese Popstars will release a digital “remix bundle” of their single ‘Take Forever’ — featuring Robert Smith of The Cure on lead vocals — featuring four different mixes of the song, including a slowed-down, dream-like contribution from Smith himself

Following last year’s release of a disc of re-recorded greatest hits, the surviving members of INXS have been promising new music — and today they deliver, offering the first taste of what’s to come in the form of an Andrew Farriss home-studio demo called ‘Tiny Summer.’

Earlier this summer, Simple Minds treated fans to a brand-new single called ‘Stagefright’ — the band’s first new material since 2009’s ‘Graffiti Soul’ — that is now available here as a free download.

Modern English have re-recorded their signature 1982 smash ‘I Melt With You’ for a second time, and are offering the slowed-down, moody version of the track as a free download in advance of a just-announced short tour of the southeastern United States next month.
