British ska-pop Madness recently announced they’ll release their 10th studio album — the cheekily titled ‘Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da’ — late next month, and, as Marco on the Bass points out, there’s now a seven-minute, full-album sampler on YouTube to whet fans’ appetites.
Out of the blue today, Paul Westerberg slipped a new song into the world, a solo piano ballad called “My Road Now” that marks the former Replacements leader’s first new music in nearly two years —and you can stream and/or download it here right now.
On the heels of last week’s announcement of a new 2CD best-of, Aussie rockers Midnight Oil today began offering a free download of “Read About It” recorded live in 2009 at one of two warm-up shows the band played in Canberra prior to taking part in the Sound Relief benefit concert.
Following news this week that The Lemonheads are working on a Ryan Adam-produced reunion album, Fire Records today announced that it will reissue the band’s first three albums — 1987’s ‘Hate Your Friends,’ 1988’s ‘Creator’ and 1989’s ‘Lick,’ all of which featured Evan Dando and original co-songwriter Ben Deily — in 2013.
This week not only brings news of a 3CD reissue from The House of Love, but new music, too, from the band’s guitarist, Terry Bickers, in the form of “I Don’t Give a Shit About You,” the very radio-unfriendly debut track from Pete Fij and Terry Bickers, his collaboration with Pete Fijalkowski of early ’90s shoegazers Adorable.
Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant this summer announced he’d enlisted former bandmate and current Wild Swans bassist Les Pattinson to take part in a new instrumental band called Poltergeist — and today they’ve debuted the first fruits of their labor, about two minutes’ worth of an untitled track.
Back in June, Erasure’s Vince Clarke tweeted news that he’d “just finished ‘Fly on the Windscreen’ featuring Ane Brun on vocals and kazoo,” a somewhat cryptic message that also noted “the turtle is restless.” Well, now, three months later, we can finally get a taste of Clarke’s new recording of his former bandmates’ song.
