Public Image Ltd. brought its U.S. tour to Minneapolis tonight, and before John Lydon and Co. played their headlining date, the band stopped by the studios of The Current to record a three-song session. With their reunion tour set to open tonight in Denver, Australian Simon Bonney’s resurrected art-rock group Crime and the City Solution — which, during the ’80s, included members of The Birthday Party, Swell Maps and Einstürzende Neubauten — today debuted its first new music in 22 years.

Sonic Youth today offered up the first taste of its forthcoming archival live album, ‘Smart Bar – Chicago 1985,’ in the form of ‘Bad Moon Rising’ opening combo “Intro/Brave Men Run (In My Family),” which you can check right here. The full album is due out Nov. 14.

Reunited grunge-era titans Soundgarden this week debuted the appropriately titled “Been Away Too Long,” the first song off forthcoming record ‘King Animal,’ the group’s first new studio album in 16 years. The rocker is the second new song to emerge since the band reunited in 2010.

Tim Burton’s latest stop-motion creation, “Frankenweenie,” doesn’t debut in theaters for another 10 days, but the companion album Frankenweenie Unleashed! came out today featuring a brand-new recording from The Cure’s Robert Smith: a woozy cover of the old Frank Sinatra standard “Witchcraft,” which you can stream here.
