In a move meant “to help lift spirits during lockdown,” XTC’s Andy Partridge has released a free digital track called “Cavegirl” — a demo for a song intended for an “aborted bubblegum sampler album” that was to have been a best-of compiling tracks from “the mythical American bubblegum label Hercules.”

Paul Weller today gave fans the first taste of his 15th solo album On Sunset in the form of “Earth Beat,” an uptempo number featuring a guest turn by R&B singer Col3trane that previews a record being billed as part soul, part electronic and part orchestral. Hear the song right here.

Reunited Paisley Underground-era rockers The Dream Syndicate this spring will release their third album of the new century, a collection of new songs called The Universe Inside that’s only five tracks long but clocks in at nearly an hour, thanks in part to 20-minute opening jam “The Regulator” — which you can hear in its entirety right here.
