Wire to begin work on new album next month, plus they’re making ‘a film about Wire by Wire’

Post-punk warriors Wire have announced plans to enter the studio next month to begin work on the band’s 17th album, as well as early explorations into making “a film about Wire by Wire” — a documentary that may ultimately be funded by fans through Kickstarter. The band also is touring Europe later this year.

]Yazoo – the classic synthpop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke that was christened Yaz in the U.S. – last month announced plans for a 4-disc box set collecting it two albums, plus remixes and BBC radio sessions that was to be released only on heavyweight vinyl and digital formats.  Now it’ll be released on CD, too.

‘New Order: Decades’ concert film/documentary to air on British TV next month

A new hybrid concert film/documentary called “New Order: Decades” that chronicles the legendary band’s “So It Goes…” synth-orchestra collaboration with artist Liam Gillick will be broadcast on the U.K.’s Sky Arts network on Sept. 22. The film includes performance footage of the concert as well.

In late June, Mike Peters released the first album by The Alarm in eight years, an 11-song effort called Equals that features Billy Duffy of The Cult on one song. Now comes the music video for one of the album’s standouts: “Thirteen Dead Reindeer,” a driving rockers with some electronic flourishes.
