Vanessa Briscoe Hay’s Pylon Reenactment Society — the band the Pylon frontwoman put together following the death in 2009 of guitarist Randy Bewley — next week will release its first original music in the form of a two-song single to be issued digitally and on 7-inch vinyl. Saying he’s “looking forward to running through my back pages,” Billy Bragg has announced a 2019 tour of the U.S. that will see him performing three nights in each city, performing his current set the first night, then two shows that focus on clusters of his early albums. Peter Murphy is currently on tour in Europe with former Bauhaus bandmate David J, performing their erstwhile band’s iconic debut album, In the Flat Field, in full each night. Somewhere along the line, somebody made off with Murphy’s crown, which he uses in the shows. Full details right here.

The former members of legendary D.C. hardcore act Minor Threat came together yesterday at their old record label’s famed Dischord house in Arlington, Va. — a reunion captured for posterity with a photo recreating the iconic cover shot of their 1985 Salad Days EP. Does this mean something more for the band? No.

R.E.M. will continue its album-by-album reissue series with a 25th anniversary re-release of its ninth studio album Monster next October, the band’s manager, Bertis Downs, revealed today in a post on the group’s website reminiscing about the genesis of that record. And, he notes, 2020 will be the band’s 40th anniversary.

Fans were thrilled to see Johnny Marr rejoin the The The fold for the band’s comeback single last year, but the ex-Smiths guitarist did not join Matt Johnson’s touring band for its first concert dates in 16 years this summer — presumably as he had his own album to promote. Tonight, though, they did perform together in London.

To mark the release of a new 5-disc, 30th anniversary edition of The House of Love’s Creation Records debut, Cherry Red Records put together a 45-minute documentary on the album’s making featuring fresh interviews with frontman Guy Chadwick and guitarist Terry Bickers. Watch it right here.

Last night’s Morrissey concert in San Diego ended the way many of the singer’s shows have: with fans rushing the stage, overcoming security in hopes of a brief moment with the performer. At least one of those fans got very close to Moz, though, and the singer was rushed offstage. Watch the footage here.
