Magazine — the post-punk act that Howard Devoto formed in 1977 after leaving the Buzzcocks — is poised to this week release ‘No Thyself,’ the band’s fifth studio album and first in 30 years, before embarking on a short U.K. tour this November.

This week’s headlines on Slicing Up Eyeballs included posts about the reunited New Order, David J, X, The Dead Milkmen, Skinny Puppy and R.E.M., plus our interview with the Pixies’ Joey Santiago, and quite possibly the biggest news of the year: the long-awaited reunion of The Stone Roses.

Now we get our third taste of Q magazine’s full-album tribute to U2′s 20-year-old ‘Achtung Baby’ in the form of Garbage’s slow and simmering cover of the record’s fifth single, ‘Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses,’ which you can stream here.

The Stone Roses sold out their two 2012 reunion concerts in Manchester in just 14 minute this morning, prompting the band to add a third show — which also sold out. All told, the band sold 220,000 tickets in 68 minutes, leading it to declare the concerts the ‘fastest selling rock gigs in U.K. history.’

David J is poised to release a new solo album called ‘Not Long For This World’ — featuring new songs and covers of tracks by Smog, Ed Harcourt, Tom Waits and Dennis Wilson — and he’ll revisit his Love and Rockets tenure by playing two California shows next week with tribute act Luv’n Rockets.

The dB’s this week released a new song as a free MP3 download — the rocker ‘Revolution of the Mind,’ featuring Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan on guitar — and announced plans to issue ‘Falling Off the Sky,’ the band’s first new studio album in 25 years, sometime in the spring of 2012.

X are set to re-release their 1986 concert film ‘The Unheard Music’ — which they’ve been screening at shows recently prior to playing their Los Angeles album in full — this December on both DVD and, for the first time, Blu-ray in special “Silver Anniversary” editions stocked with extras.
