The dB’s today announced a June 12 release date for Falling Off the Sky, the jangle-pop heroes’ first album in 25 years and first to feature the band’s original lineup — Peter Holsapple, Gene Holder, Will Rigby and Chris Stamey — in 30 years. Plus, the band’s playing six separate shows at South By Southwest this month.

Martin Gore isn’t the only Depeche Mode member who’s been busy during the band’s downtime: Frontman Dave Gahan has lent his well-known voice to electronic project Soulsavers for that group’s fourth album, ‘The Light the Dead See’ — and he’s already talking about making more music and touring with the group.

It certainly sounded too good to be true: The La’s were announced as headliners of the inaugural New York Sound City music, media and technology conference this month in what was billed as Lee Mavers and Co.’s first concert in New York City in two decades. But it’s not to be.

Peter Murphy’s very short run of March dates in the western U.S. and Mexico has grown ever so slightly, as the former Bauhaus leader announced Thursday that he’ll follow what was to have been a one-of California concert in Santa Ana with two more shows — in the same night — at a San Francisco jazz club.

It’s Bruce Springsteen week over at “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and last night saw Elvis Costello stop by the show to help celebrate the release of the Boss’ new album. Backed by The Roots, Costello played Springsteen’s “Brilliant Disguise” on air and stuck around for a web-only performance of “Fire.”
