Canadian singer-songwriter Allister Thompson — who has recorded as The Gateless Gate, Twilight Fields and Khan Tengri — later this month will release a tribute to Grant McLennan, a collection of some of Thompson’s favorite songs written by the late Go-Betweens co-founder. Just days after announcing the ninth incarnation of its Chicago industrial-music festival, Cold Waves today revealed that it will bring a bit of the Windy City to Los Angeles in late September with a Wax Trax! Records showcase featuring performances by Front 242, The Young Gods, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and more.

The Psychedelic Furs today announced a 13-date spring U.S. tour — focused largely on dates in Florida and Texas — ahead of the release of Made of Rain, the band’s eighth studio album and their first full-length in nearly 30 years.  Full tour dates and all the details right here.

The Dead Milkmen are back in the studio, working on the band’s first new album in six years and the follow-up to 2017’s Welcome to the End of the World EP. To help bide the time, they’ve also launched a new weekly video series in which they’ll answer “big questions.” Watch the first installment right here.

Chicago’s industrial-themed Cold Waves festival returns for a ninth installment this September with a lineup topped by Front 242, Stabbing Westward, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and The Young Gods, plus Wax Trax! Records mainstays Paul Barker and Chris Connelly. Check out the full lineup.

Andrew Brough, a guitarist and songwriter who played in multiple New Zealand bands in the 1980s and ’90s including Straitjacket Fits, part of Flying Nun Records’ second wave of the so-called Dunedin sound, died on Tuesday, the band announced on Facebook. More information right here.

The Throwing Muses will release Sun Racket — their 10th studio album, and the college-rock favorites’ first in seven years — on the Fire Records label this May, bandleader Kristin Hersh announced this week in the latest edition of her newsletter. Like clockwork, the goth-rock legends Bauhaus continue to roll out reunion dates, adding to more U.S. shows — in Dallas and Chicago — this summer to the band’s 2020 itinerary, which now includes seven concert and festival dates in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. See full dates right here.

Pioneering British synthpop outfit Heaven 17 — originally a studio-only entity that didn’t perform live until nearly two decades after its founding — will stage a short North American tour this May that the duo of Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware are calling “our first proper U.S. tour.” Full dates and details right here.
