When The Housemartins split in 1988, the band vowed never to reunite. That remains as true, according to bassist Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, who this morning told a BBC radio interviewer that it would take an equally unlikely reunion of The Smiths to spur his bandmates into action.
Paul Weller’s only playing a handful of North American dates in support of his newly released ‘Sonik Kicks’ album, but he did manage to stop by ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ last night to perform, on air, that record’s lead single ‘That Dangerous Age,’ plus a web-only run through The Jam classic ‘That’s Entertainment.’
Via the release of the ‘One Drop’ EP last month, we’ve heard four of the new Public Image Ltd. tracks that will appear on ‘This Is PiL,’ the group’s first new album in 20 years, which arrives May 28 in the U.K. and May 29 in the U.S. Now comes a fifth new track, via Rolling Stone: ‘Deeper Water.’
With the My Bloody Valentine’s long-delayed reissues now out and Kevin Shields talking openly about a new album, it appears 2013 will see actual MBV activity: The band is scheduled to perform three concerts in Japan next February, which would mark the dormant group’s first performances since 2009.
