Morrissey appeared on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday night in advance of the opening of his U.S. tour, performing a cover of Frankie Valli’s 1967 single “To Give (The Reason I Live)” for broadcast, and then sticking around to play “You Have Killed Me” as a web-only clip.
We’ve got some big news today on the radio front: Slicing Up Eyeballs — that is, yours truly, site founder/editor Matt Sebastian — has been asked to host “Dark Wave,” the Sunday night show that explores the “darker side of alternative” on satellite-radio network Sirius XM’s classic-alternative station 1st Wave.
Exactly 20 years ago tonight, Sinead O’Connor largely derailed what had been a promising career when she appeared on “Saturday Night Live” and, in the most infamous of her many controversial acts, tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II while urging viewers to “fight the real enemy.”
Public Image Ltd. has become the latest U.K. act to run afoul of U.S. immigration, announcing this morning that it has been forced to cancel tonight’s tour opener in Orlando, Fla., due to “unforeseen visa problems.” John Lydon and Co. pledge “the rest of the tour will continue as planned.”
The Pogues may or may not have sworn off their traditional Christmas tours of the U.K. following their 2010 outing, but the folk-punk favorites are set to play a one-off London concert this December. Billed as the band’s only U.K show of the band’s ongoing 30th anniversary tour, the Dec. 20 gig is set for London’s O2 Arena.
