The Dead Milkmen are celebrating Halloween today by debuting three new songs off the first in a new series of 7-inch singles online — but only until midnight. The tracks include “Dark Clouds Gather Over Middlemarch” and “Ronald Reagan Killed the Black Dahlia,” off the 7-inch itself, and a bonus digital track.
This week’s Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour was a special goth/dark wave episode, featuring music by Alien Sex Fiend, Killing Joke, The Danse Society, 1919, Coil, Clan of Xymox, The Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Ministry, Asylum Party and The Cure. Replay at 2 p.m. EDT Friday.
Bob Mould was in Los Angeles on Monday ahead of the first of his last two ‘Copper Blue’ shows — after tonight’s L.A. concert and an Austin, Texas, appearance on Friday, he says he’s done playing the Sugar album front-to-back — and squeezed in an appearance on “Conan” to tear through ‘Silver Age’ track “Keep Believing.”
The Stone Roses continue to flesh out plans to continue their rapturously received reunion into 2013, this week announcing that they’ll follow their March trip to Australia with three big outdoor gigs in the U.K. next June, including two shows at London’s Finsbury Park and a single date in Glasgow.
Classic college-rock combo Camper Van Beethoven is set to return early next year with ‘La Costa Perdida,’ the band’s second post-reunion album and its first new studio set in more than eight years, a collection bassist Victor Krummenacher says “has elements of vintage Camper along with grown-up Camper.”
German industrial group Einstürzende Neubauten next month will release a CD/DVD set that captures the band’s 1990 concert for the German TV show “Rockpalast.” Featuring 16 songs, the release — dubbed, naturally, “Live at Rockpalast 1990” — is due out Nov. 12, according to the band’s website.
This week’s new releases include brand-new studio albums from ska-pop outfit Madness (‘Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da’) and electronic group Delerium (‘Music Box Opera’), plus the fifth in a series of archival live albums from The Wedding Present, this one recorded at shows in Sweden and the U.K. in 1991.
