The resurgent Pixies made their second TV appearance in a week last night, this time plugging in on the BBC’s “Later… with Jools Holland” to tear through new song “What Goes Boom” off the band’s just-released EP-1 in advance of tonight’s appearance at the iTunes Festival in London.

The Ocean Blue this week debuted another video for a track off this year’s comeback album Ultramarine, this time a Ginny Pitchford-directed clip for the song “Ground Gives Away,” which you can watch below via Paste. The band also has announced a new round of U.S. tour dates later this year.

In three weeks, Gary Numan both will release his first album of new material in seven years — Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind) — and return to the road in the U.S. for his second round of dates in as many months. To get fans prepped, he released a new single off Splinter this week.

Tonight’s Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour on Strangeways Radio featured brand-new music from Mazzy Star and the Pixies, covers of Peter Gabriel by Arcade Fire and Hunters & Collectors by Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn, plus old favorites from The Replacements, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Miracle Legion.
