With The Mission having recently started using film projections in concert for the first time, Wayne Hussey decided to go the next step and put together a full music video for one of the band’s songs: “The Girl in the Fur Skin Rug,” a tribute to Marianne Faithfull that now features an accompanying video.
The Psychedelic Furs have spent the past few years steadily touring the U.S., and 2014’s shaping up to be no different, with the beloved New Wave rockers this week announcing its first American dates of the year: five shows in Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
The Replacements reunion will roll on this year, with the band confirmed tonight to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this April along with Pet Shop Boys, The Afghan Whigs, Brian Ferry, The Cult, Toy Dolls, Fishbone, Bad Manners, Neutral Milk Hotel and more — plus headliners OutKast, Arcade Fire and Muse.
The Pixies are set to debut their second new bassist in a year — Paz Lenchantin, who played in A Perfect Circle and Billy Corgan’s brief post-Smashing Pumpkins outfit Zwan — at a just-announced warm-up gig next week in Northampton, Mass., that will feature an opening set from Miracle Legion’s Mark Mulcahy.
Tonight’s Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour featured new music from the Pixies, Tears For Fears, ChameleonsVox, The Mission and Morrissey, plus old favorites from The The, Front 242, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Joe Strummer, Midnight Oil, Aztec Camera, Pet Shop Boys, Love and Rockets and more.

Steve Wynn’s reunited Dream Syndicate — featuring Dennis Duck, Mark Walton and new guitarist Jason Victor — has only played a handful of dates in the U.S. since first coming together in the fall of 2012, so, for many, this film of the band’s full 100-minute set in Cleveland last November is a godsend.
