New Order, which began making noise about recording new music not long into its current reunion, finally treated fans to some of that work this past weekend during the band’s slot at Lollapalooza Chile, debuting a new 6-minute number that bears the working title of “Drop the Guitar,”

The classic third album from Matthew Sweet — 1991’s Girlfriend, featuring the twin guitar attack of Robert Quine and Television’s Richard Lloyd — will be reissued on 180-gram vinyl this fall by Plain Recordings in what’s being billed as the record’s first time back on 12-inch since its initial release.

This week’s new releases include a triple-album dub compilation from Killing Joke, a compilation of early material from The Mighty Lemon Drops, a new ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ companion from The Flaming Lips and reissues of albums by Swans and Athletico Spizz 80.

Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured music from Big Black, Kate Bush, This Mortal Coil, Chrome, Anne Clark, Gene Loves Jezebel, Acid Horse, Magazine, Front 242, Butthole Surfers, Gary Numan, Tones on Tail, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Dead Boys and more.

Back in February, The Cure announced ambitious plans for 2014, including the release of a new album — the companion to 2008′s 4:13 Dream — as well as a third round of “Trilogy” shows worldwide, which would find the band performing The Top, The Head on the Door and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.
