After six years of eligibility, The Smiths were nominated today for induction as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015, joining a list of nominees that includes Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the late Lou Reed, Kraftwerk, Sting and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

R.E.M. to release 14 hours of live material, TV appearances in 6-DVD ‘REMTV’ box

R.E.M. this November will unleash a mammoth video package documenting 30 years of live performances, award show highlights and TV appearances on MTV’s networks, a six-DVD set called “REMTV” that will collect 14 hours of material, including a new feature-length documentary called “R.E.M. by MTV.”
