The Waterboys have debuted the first single off the band’s upcoming double album, an upbeat, 3 1/2-minute track called “If the Answer is Yeah!” that delivers on bandleader Mike Scott’s promise to employ more modern production values and styles in his new music. Hear it right here.
Mick Bund, who served as bassist for indie-pop favorites Felt in the late ’80s, played with Sarah Cracknell in her pre-Saint Etienne group Prime Time and went on to front Mexico 70 in the ’90s, died suddenly last week, according to a statement from Felt mastermind Lawrence.
Ministry will support the release this fall of its 14th studio album AmeriKKKant by co-headlining a U.S. tour with electro-industrial hip-hop duo Death Grips, a trek that will open Oct. 13 in Worcester, Mass., and keep the two groups on the road through Nov. 11 in Dallas, Texas. In the wake of last month’s surprise release of a new “The Queen is Dead” single, The Smiths’ Facebook page has been hinting that something more is in the works involving the band’s beloved 1986 album. And today, it seems, came the first evidence of what many have suspected: The Queen is Dead will receive an expanded reissue.
Depeche Mode today announced the cancellation of the group’s Global Spirit Tour stop in Minsk, Belarus, tonight due to what it only described as “a band member illness” — and promised fans that efforts would be made to reschedule the concert later in the tour. No details yet on any rescheduling.
The Violent Femmes’ co-headlining tour of the U.S. with Echo & The Bunnymen got underway last week, and while the band was in New York, the trio stopped by “CBS This Morning” for an interview and live session that aired on the morning show’s Saturday edition. Watch all of that right here.
