The promo team working the reissue of The Smiths’ classic 1986 The Queen is Dead today interrupted their own series of weekly unreleased live tracks that won’t appear on the upcoming deluxe edition to debut one of the live cuts that will be included on the 3CD/1DVD package. Hear it here.

The Dream Syndicate  this Friday will release its first new album in near 30 years, the eight-song How Did I Find Myself Here? And as the big release date approaches, the band this week debuted a new music video for the album’s opener, “Filter Me Through You.” Watch it right here.

The Violent Femmes are going back out on the road this fall, following up their summer co-headlining tour with Echo & The Bunnymen with a run of October dates in the midwestern U.S. — including five concerts in the band’s home state of Wisconsin. After dropping hints for months, Numero Group today finally revealed full details of their multi-disc Hüsker Dü box set Savage Young Dü, which collects new remasters of the punk/hardcore trio’s entire studio output from 1979 to 1982 — including 47 unreleased tracks. See the full tracklist here.

Squeeze this week announced the release of the group’s first new studio album in two years, a 12-song collection called The Knowledge that is due out Oct. 13 and is preceded by the record’s moody opener, “Innocence in Paradise,” which you can stream in full below. Check out the first track here.

The BBC has announced that Morrissey will kick off its 6 Music Live week in October, a series of live-on-the-air performances at the British broadcaster’s Maida Vale studios that also will feature Mogwai, alt-J, Loyle Carner and Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.

The Sisters of Mercy opened their month-long European tour with a two-night stand at London’s Roundhouse on Friday and Saturday nights, offering setlists that traded in the band’s most well-known material and some rarities, including covers of Mission of Burma and Link Wray, and rare performances of two 1984 singles.

The promotional juggernaut behind the reissue of The Smiths’ The Queen is Dead continues with today’s premiere of the latest unreleased live version of a cut off that record. This week it’s “Bigmouth Strikes Again” recorded at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif., on Aug. 23, 1986. Stream it here.
