One of our devoted readers just tipped us to this gem: indie-pop act Rogue Wave covering Depeche Mode’s 1985 single “Shake the Disease” live in KCRW’s studio Thursday for the station’s cornerstone show “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” It’s a stellar take on a beloved song, a hushed performance with acoustic and electric guitars, piano and brushed drums. Check it out above.

Easily one of my top 5 favorite DM songs, and this cover beats the pants off that god-awful Maritime cover of ETS posted a couple days back. Plus, no snarky hipster commentary (ETS a “great terrible song”? Really??)
