Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (12/15/24)

The Jesus and Mary Chain

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Parade Town was a pleasant treat: Don’t Crash is such an outstanding track. Make Ministry Synthpop Again! SOn to the Siren is always a moment maker. Could I possibly trouble you for some:

    Die Form- Unlimited

It’s been stuck in my head recently. Perhaps this will free it. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.

  2. “Don’t Fall” by the Chameleons for (the next after next) Sunday’s show

  3. Next week can you dig up

    Joy Division- Autosuggestion
    Sonic Youth – Cotton Crown

Depeche Mode – Never Let Me Down Again

  4. Great show Matt! I completely loved the song Memory Gongs , and Lead into Gold tonight.
See you next week for the Christmas Spectacular.

  5. You should run 24/7 like Joey’s channel. You play more of the music I listen to on YouTube.

  6. CARMEN ILARDI

Please play Peter Murphy’s A Strange Kind of Love (Version 2). Thank you.

  7. Love JAMC to kick things off! Hour one was loaded with many favorites – Joy Division, The Damned, Morrissey, New Order… Kudos for another fantastic installment of the dark stuff.

A request for a future shoe gaze block:
    Ride “Drive Blind”

    Thank you!

  8. Brilliant set last night, super enjoyable. Hour one really killed it. I’d never heard Memory Gongs before, just gorgeous. The Parade Ground track was a highlight as well. Thanks for playing my XTC request. You played A LOT of requests this week, much appreciated. Whoever requested Hip Priest gets a high five.

Can’t wait for the holiday spectacular next Sunday. For the week after that and to help ring in the new year, I think we’re overdue for one of your favorite bands Matt. How about some Suede? I’m thinking b-sides, maybe ‘My Dark Star’ or ‘To The Birds’ or ‘My Insatiable One’ but would also be more than happy with a dealer’s choice cut.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  9. Enjoyed the industrial selections in the final hour!

Here’s some requests for a future DW –

My Bloody Valentine – Who Sees You
Executive Slacks – In and Out

    Thanks!

  12. Hello Matt! I am extremely stocked that out chose my request as the opening track this week! How totally awesome of you! I swear since I saw JAMC last month I’ve been re-listening to all of those albums….just brilliant – there literally are no bad songs by them! Ok enough gushing – hour one killed it this week loved the selections!!!! I think some Shoegaze is in order – it’s been too long lol!!!! Some possible suggestions for next time:

    Sneaker Pimps – Tesko Suicide
    Slowdive – Everyone Knows

    Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

  13. ^^^should day stoked^^^

  14. Say geesh

  15. Great show! Song to the siren must be the least likely track to be sampled by 2 different rave anthems. Now I’ve got IT’S TIME TO START RUNNING stuck in my noggin on repeat.

    Thanks for playing idiots rule!

Gosh that new order track is the best, innit?

Looking forward to the Xmas spectacular. Happy holidaze darkwavers!!

If you’re taking nye (separated by a couple days but i’m sure well replay it!) requests I’d like to suggest anything off DM’s 101 for my lovely wife who was born on NY and was also there for the recording :)

  17. Very nice line up! For a future non-holiday show

    Consolidated – This is Fascism
Simple Minds – Themes for Great Cities

    Many thanks

  18. Haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but the play list looks amazing. Looking forward to it.

I’d like to request something for the New Year’s show if possible. But not really sure what to request. This past year was so acrimonious. And the next year seems kind of shaky. Maybe either

“Under the Stars” by Monaco or
“There is a light that never goes out” by the Smiths.

They both kind of seem to fit the mood. I’ll also pitch a request from left field: Whale “Hobo Humpin’ Slobo Babe”. Debatable about whether it fits your show, but if someone reading this goes and looks it up, they’ll get what I think is a fun earworm. Merry Christmas.

Anyway, thanks for playing my requests and a year full of great music. Your show always makes my week. Hope it will do so in the coming year. Happy Holidays.

  19. Hey Matt,

I know I’m late an episode but just want to give a friendly reminder about Ball of Confusion as another Motown song =)

And like you say in the spirit of covers (something along those lines) have you ever heard Icon of Coil’s tribute to Pet Shop Boys? New York City Boy? Think the tribute album came out around 1999 perhaps. Worth a listen. That’s my 2 cents.

    Merry Christmas Matt
    Travel Well

  20. Hey Matt,
I’d like to request any song off the new Cure album you haven’t played yet for the New Year’s show. From previous weeks, you’ve played Alone, Endsong & Drone:No Drone. Really, any other song off the album, since it’s a masterpiece. Thanks and cheers !
    – Patrick

  21. How about that ugly live version of Come to Daddy by V.Prunes.

  22. Perhaps a track from Carcrash International
From their album Fragments of a Journal in Hell

  23. Muscoviet Mosquito – Clan of Xymox

    Thank you!

  24. Jaan Naktin

I love your show – has re-sparked my interest in 80’s groups that I grew up with in high school and college.
Any chance you could play anything from Grant Hart from Intolerance or Nova Mob from The Last Days of Pompeii?
    Thanks!
