Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (10/13/24)

The Cure

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  3. Great show. Have to go with Hour 1. It finished on so many strong cuts. Last three songs in particular. Good calls.

Was going to make my usual “Terror Story” request for Halloween, but I read you had already scheduled that show. So would like to request some Iron Curtain on another upcoming episode. Either “Like A Family” or “Television Saved My Life”.

Thanks and have a great week.

  4. Mission of Burma was a nice treat. good show as always. some great deep tracks.

  5. Love to here Secret Oktober by Duran Duran

  6. Loved the Siouxsie song!

    on a future show

  9. A new episode of Dark Wave to stream always softens the “back to work” blahs of Monday. Thank you for playing my JAMC request – it’s appreciated. Enjoyed cuts from Big Black, Bunnymen, Slits, Concrete Blonde, Love and Rockets… and how nice to have a new Cure song to kick things off!

A request for a future show:
    New Order “Ceremony”

    Thank you!

  10. Concrete Blonde – Darkening of the Light

  11. Great show last night. Was really happy to hear new Cure, what a great track. Thanks for closing the show with my Bad Seeds request. Two weeks in a row with the show closer feels like an honor. And yes, it is indeed impossible to have too much Big Black. Thank you Steve Albini.

We’re seeing The The in a few weeks. Could we hear “Lonely Planet” on a future show?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  12. Love this October DW!

  13. Great show Matt!! You’re in for a treat when you see the upcoming P Furs and J&MC show….it was terrific!! I especially loved the later bands performance…the set list was awesome – tho i always want more songs but it’s hard on a double bill to do so. Radiohead – Street Spirit
    The Verve – Noise Epic
    The Charlatans – Weirdo

    Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

    • Hey Tina, glad to hear the show was awesome! My son and I are going in a couple of weeks in San Francisco. Do you know if they are switching up the headline slot? Also, did you happen to see Frankie Rose?

  14. This show always starts my week off on such a high note. I look forward to it every week.

Might be a bit heavy, and too long, but Current 93 – Falling Back In Fields Of Rape could be a good one to play.

Fun Boy Three – The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum (1981)
