Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (9/29/24)

Cabaret Voltaire

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Hi Matt, great show tonight, I enjoyed the Remnant Three track in particular. Here’s my little request:

    DAF – Absolute Body Control

    Thanks!

  2. Great show! Luna celebrates the big 42 on October 6. May I ask if you can play any track off Show by the Cure in recognition?

We are located about 30 minutes away from where the band recorded the album. The venue is long gone, but the music remains.

  3. “Pearly-Dewdrops’ Drops” by Cocteau Twins for (the next after next) Sunday’s show

  4. Great setlist last night! Played some thing I hadn’t heard in ages. Especially liked the live versions of Ball of Confusion and spellbound and The City Sleeps still gives me chills. Fantastic way to end the weekend. Cheers!

  5. Streaming Dark Wave always makes my Monday morning commute bearable! I enjoyed hour one (esp. Jane’s into Love and Rockets) and look forward to New Order, JAMC, Bowie…

    Request for an upcoming show:
    Girls Against Boys “Sexy Sam”

Thanks! And wishing everyone a good week as we head into October.

  6. The the infected? Ty!

  7. That was such an unexpected surprise/treat to hear “new” NIN!

  8. New Order – Love Vigilantes

  9. Can you play

Love and Rockets – Judgement Day
    Joy Division – Autosuggestion
XTC – Deliver Us From The Elements
    Galaxy 500 – Ceremony
    Depeche Mode – Blue Dress
    Tunnelvision – Guessing The Way

  10. Great show last night. I particularly enjoyed the live cuts. Thanks for playing some ACR. Nice pairing in that first hour with some Cabaret Voltaire. Really digging what I’m hearing from Remnant Three, great find.

I saw a screening of Gregg Araki’s The Doom Generation this past Saturday and was reminded what a killer soundtrack it has. How about “Penetration” by JAMC on a future show? Or any track off that soundtrack.

Have a great week Matt and fellow darkwavers, cheers!

  11. Hi Matt,

Great show tonight. I’m seeing The Furs here in Boston this Wednesday (along with the JMAC who I have never seen before). Would love to hear “We Love You” off the first album on a future show. Just a great, underrated cut. Back when they were yet another upcoming British band being hailed as the new Pistols (kind of think of it – so were the JMAC circa 1985-86!). T

    Thanks!

    -Tony from Boston

  12. Hello Matt wow great choices this week…. loved that you played a live Love and Rockets song (and the one I requested super awesome!!!). It helped soften the blow that was Perry’s antics resulting in the end of the tour…it made me feel like I got the see them. I hope I can see them one day. I hadn’t heard that Cure song in forever so that was great too!
Some possible suggestions for next time:

Combichrist – Get Your Body Beat
    Faderhead – Cyberphychosis
Snake River Conspiracy – Breed (Valentine soundtrack)

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  13. Great show. I purchased the Remnant Three album for less than $8 from Apple. Great find, thanks for sharing it with us. I have tickets to see the Sisters of Mercy Sunday @ the Greek, my request is for “When you don’t see me”, for the ride home.

  14. Great live cuts!

Entertainment! turned 45 on 9/25. I would like to request any tune of your choice off that legendary album.

    Thanks!

  15. Great show as always! The Wolfgang Press dropped a new recording, would be great if you could play a track! As well as one from Anja Huwe’s (Xmal) latest Codes, the track Rabenschwarz with Manuela Rickers shredding it up

  16. Bauhaus – Spirit In The Sky (1983)
Oil Tasters – Slit Chapped Lips (1982)

  17. Rory from Canada

I am so glad I found this! 3 hours a week is not enough of this good stuff.

Got a little Canadian band for you that had a badass song a while ago that would fit right in on this killer program, if you are so inclined!

The Birthday Massacre – Looking Glass
