Reissuing old albums in deluxe vinyl pressings is all the rage these days, but it’s not often you see what online wax retailer Insound is doing: reissuing a pair of classic 7-inches from The Replacements and Ramones.
On June 9, the Web shop will kick off a new series of reissued punk and indie 45s by releasing limited-edition reprints of the Replacements’ 1989 single “I’ll Be You” — with a b-side featuring Tom Waits — and the Ramones’ 1977 “California Sun” single.
Each title will be limited to 1,000 copies and will feature the original tracklisting and artwork. Both sell for $7.99 apiece; customers will be limited to five copies each.
The Ramones reissue, featuring tracks recorded at L.A.’s Roxy on July 12, 1976, is certainly a bargain; this site has a copy of the original Japanese pressing priced at $670.
