DETAILS: Cherry Red Records this week releases a 4CD, 57-song box set that attempts to distill the indie-dance crossover that was the Madchester/baggy scene. Features The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, The Farm and more.

RELEASE: They Live In My Head
DETAILS: The No Wave legends this week release an album they began recording during the pandemic before the death of drummer Dee Pop, but finished with Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley filling in. Features “Ghosts of People” and “2020 Vision.”

Dexys

RELEASE: The Feminine Devine
DETAILS: The Kevin Rowland-led band formerly known as Dexys Midnight Runners is back with its fifth album, and first in 11 years. The first half is “full of music hall-esque swagger,” while the second half is described as a “saucy, synth-heavy cabaret.”

Billy Idol

RELEASE: Billy Idol: Expanded Edition
DETAILS: This 2CD reissue of the former Generation X frontman’s solo debut that’s due out this week features, on the second disc, an unreleased 1982 concert recorded at the Roxy in West Hollywood that includes a 12-minute version of “White Wedding.”

RELEASE: The Great Crossover Potential
DETAILS: The 14-song best-of by Bjork and Co. this week gets a limited-edition, 180-gram, double-vinyl reissue. Features “Cold Sweat,” “Deus,” “Hit,” “Motor Crash,” “Regina,” “Planet,” “Birthday” and more.

RELEASE: Recipe For Hate: Anniversary Edition
DETAILS: The seventh album from the punk lifers, originally released in 1993, this week receives a 30th anniversary reissue pressed on “Translucent Tigers Eye” vinyl. Features guest vocals from Eddie Vedder on “American Jesus” and “Watch It Die.”

They Might Be Giants

RELEASE: Long Tall Weekend
DETAILS: The two Johns’ seventh studio album, a digital-only release in 1999, finally gets a limited-edition 180-gram vinyl pressing. The 15-song album is described as “a set of some highly unusual recordings even by TMBG standards.”

Reagan Youth

RELEASE: Youth Anthems for the New Order
DETAILS: The 1984 debut by the anarcho-punk band is reissued this week on silver vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. Features the original seven-song album, including “(You’re A) Gonowhere,” “I Hate Hate” and “Reagan Youth,” plus three bonus tracks.
