Fans of Sonic Youth this week got the first official taste of the band’s forthcoming The Eternal, as Matador Records posted the album’s first MP3— the Kim Gordon-sung “Sacred Trickster” — online for free download.
The record doesn’t come out until June 8, but those who pre-order it through Matador’s Buy Early Get Now program will be able to begin streaming it Tuesday (as well as get a free, exclusive live LP).
Matador describes the track as “a 2:10 out-of-the gate hardcore matinee track with Kim singing salutes to French painter Yves Klein and Western Massachusetts noise artist Noise Nomads.”
