For those who haven’t yet partaken in the sourdough-making craze that swept through coronavirus lockdowns this spring, none other than Mike Joyce — yes, the former drummer for The Smiths — is here to help get you up to speed and kneading away.
Joyce, who got into baking sourdough after his son gifted him a starter this past Christmas, filmed a 14-minute breadmaking tutorial for the Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s YouTube page.
“They’ve asked me if I would give a sourdough masterclass,” Joyce says in the beginning of the video. “That isn’t going to happen. It’s not a masterclass, by no means. … Trial and error, a lot of error.”

So many Smith’s fans are unable to come to terms with the inconvenient truth in an old Bob Dylan song. A song written for, and we’ll accepted by those who took part in the civil rights movement of the 60’s.
Huh?
never have Truer words been spoken.
How completely normal and fantastic is this video?! He’s entertaining behind the kit and in the kitchen. “Meatloaf next.” suggested Morrissey (never).
And he makes bread, swoon!
I started sourdough that I couldn’t finish.
It would be nice if he would included how to make the starter
Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Made Sourdough Bread
Glad to see he’s taking a break from suing his former friends and band mates.
Beat down the bread dough.
Bang it into greased pans.
Because the sourdough they constantly bake,
It says nothing of wheat or of dark rye.
