The Psychedelic Furs today debuted the second track off the band’s first album in 29 years, a song called “You’ll Be Mine” that has a slight Celtic tinge and will be featured on the eagerly awaited Made of Rain, which is due out May 1 via Cooking Vinyl. Hear it below.
The new album is produced by current Guns N’ Roses member Richard Fortus, who joined Furs principals Richard and Tim Butler in their mid-’90s band Love Spit Love. It can be pre-ordered now via Amazon.com. The first single off the record, “Don’t Believe,” was released earlier this year.
Made of Rain will be the Furs’ first new album in nearly three decades, since the 1991 release of World Outside, which spawned the modern-rock radio hit “Until She Comes.” And it’s long been in the works: Butler and his brother Tim, the band’s bassist, have been talking in interviews about recording a new Psychedelic Furs album for at least the last six years.
The Furs have a 13-date U.S. tour scheduled to begin in mid-April; see full dates here. No word on whether those dates will be impacted by concerns about the spread of coronavirus in crowds.
The band also is slated to play the Cruel World festival in Los Angeles in May alongside Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie and Devo. The promoters of that festival already have postponed Coachella to October; no word if they’ll do something similar with Cruel World.
Below, check out the album’s second single.

Just brilliant, they have certainly convinced me with these first two tracks that they can reinterpret their classic sound without being derivative of themselves or the time. Considering how good World Outside and Book of Days were this one feels like they never left and a natural progression forward from them. Really looking forward to hearing the rest.
Reed, well said! Really excited for new music from these guys!
This is really nice. Reminds me of a Psychedelic Furs song. Looking forward to this release.
I like that a lot.
I must say, it sounds to me like a Furs/James collaboration to me.
