Main Man Records this spring will release Hero: A Tribute to David Bowie, an ultra-limited white-vinyl LP — the label says just 300 copies are being pressed — that features The Alarm and members of Blondie, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Heaven 17 and more honoring the Thin White Duke.
The album, due out April 15, features The Alarm covering “The Jean Genie,” plus Slinky Vagabond — featuring former Bowie sideman Earl Slick, the Pistols’ Glen Matlock, Blondie’s Clem Burke and singer Keanan Duffty — performing “Boys Keep Swinging.”
Also on the set: Holy Holy, the Bowie tribute band featuring Spiders from Mars drummer Woody Woodmansey and producer Tony Visconti, covering “Running Gun Blues” with Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory and Spandau Ballet’s Steve Norman. Plus, The Damned’s Rat Scabies and Josh Freese of The Vandals and Devo also appear on other tracks.
Pre-order the LP directly from Main Man Records — and check out the full tracklist below.

Tribute, or cynical cash grab? I’d argue maybe 30% the former, 70% the latter.
Well, who or whatever this iteration of Main Man Records is, the website is not secure.
Stay away. Looks like a scam.
Looks secure to me.
Not complete without Bauhaus. And since Bauhaus has reunited, no excuse.
If it was such a cash grab I think it would be limited to more than 300 copies
Thank You G Cole-I CO produced and A&R for this 2 years in the making labour of Love and from the heart -Bauhaus would have been cool Eugene but there busy -David C not a scam again from the heart only 300 on White Vinyl Made for the Thin White Duke-Matt is a dear friend and would never share anything not legit -Cheers

Why only 300?
The Thin white genius,, really was such a humble man he maybe gone but tributes such as this will never let his music die, a true rock god nobody will ever come close, luv on ya.
How much does it cost and how do i get my hands on one….
Is it going to then be 300 blue vinyl then 300 red vinyl and so on ???
Wtf? Is Tony Defries back? MainMan really? Sneakers..dolls, kiddie books…puke. Is Gene Simmons running this ..does he work for Perryscope now? What next a flipping lightning bolt casket?! Puke
Scam. No one mentioned knows anything about this. Bowie told me his back recordings were his family’s cash cow. They wouldn’t waste it on this.
I love David but I am not going to buy this album. Why would I? I can just play the original ones, David Bowie singing. No other vocals come close to David’s.
Cassie
Totally agree
No-one comes close to the late great man
Not a scam. Main Man records in New York say they have NO connection with MainMan records.
Not a scam
“Main Man records in New York say they have NO connection with MainMan records.”
Except for conveniently adding a space between the two words, thus making it more of a public domain-ish ‘trademark’, and not running afoul of the actual trademark of Defries’ company. I can go with ‘not a scam’, prefer to replace the term with ‘cheap cash grab’. Not really interested.
Now, if you were putting out a couple of more albums of Bowie’s unreleased takes, songs that never made an album, etc., I’m going to be near the head of the line to buy. If I’m going to buy more Bowie, I want the real stuff, not tributes.
There was and always will
