The Cure’s Robert Smith — with an assist by the band’s keyboardist Roger O’Donnell — has recorded a new version of the classic Disintegration track “Pictures of You” with the London-based Quartet Voluté for the new documentary “Dead Good.”
You can hear Smith’s new vocals over the string quartet’s music in the film’s trailer below.
The newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer — who is also working on a new album with The Cure — announced his participation in the project via a trademark all-caps tweet on Monday, saying he and O’Donnell recorded the new version of the 1989 track last year for inclusion in the film “about death.”
A description of the documentary: “In Brighton, UK, a small group of women have been changing the way people look after their dead. Supporting them during the ritual of care after death, and empowering them to create personal ceremonies reflecting the life that the deceased lived. This relatively unknown work is part of an emerging movement that is changing the way death is approached in contemporary Britain.”

Hi Robert Smith – The cure I am your biggest fan here in the Philippines,
Is there a possibility that you can have a concert here or any Asian Tour? I watched your Cure Tour concert in Sydney last 2016. As always it was a superb one!! . finally a new album, after 11 years . I can’t wait.
I’d love to hear the whole song. Looking forward to the new album and hoping The Cure comes to America for some concert dates. I last saw you at Merriweather in Columbia, Maryland a few summers ago – you sounded great!
Greeting from Colorado. I saw you guys in Colorado at Red Rocks. I’ve been waiting for you to come back. A big well deserved CONGRATULATIONS on getting into the Hall of Fame. It should have happened 20 years ago. I love you guys.
Nothing can be said about Robert & The Cure that hasn’t been said a million times. Except, where can we hear/purchase this version of “Pictures of You”? Looking forward to another US tour to add to my life experiences.
I was so pleased that The Cure were finally recognised for their creativity and talent on Friday when they were inducted into the RRHOF. So well deserving.
Also, is there a possibility that a few gigs could be played in the Devon/Cornwall area following Glastonbury this year? Please.
The new version of “Pictures Of You” is really very fitting – heartbreaking. It made me teary….
This is amazing. Congrats To you all. Thank you Robert Smith for making music that has such deep meaning to so many. I look forward to the next album. #10045000fan.
Beautiful ! Hoping for a Chicago visit this Fall. ❤
Judging by some of the comments, people seem to think that the band posts this stuff or reads the comments…weird.
Will there be a U.S. Tour? Please say yes.
