Listen: The Chills’ Martin Phillipps talks to Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast in 3-part interview

Our friends at the Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast recently sat down with Martin Phillipps, bandleader of iconic New Zealand indie-pop outfit The Chills, backstage at the Black Cat in Washington, D.C., for a three-part interview — which you can listen to in full below.

Phillipps spoke to the podcast’s hosts about the band’s first U.S. tour since 1996, the just-premiered documentary “The Chills: The Triumph & Tragedy Of Martin Phillipps,” the band’s excellent 2018 album Snow Bound and other historic and archival matters — including Phillips’ plans to release a remixed and remastered edition of The Chills’ 1987 debut Brave Words.

Below, listen to all three parts of the Phillipps interview. You can also hit up the Rockin’ the Suburbs website to hear more — and subscribe, of course — and, if you’ve never listened, a great place to start would be their 5-part series on New Zealand’s Flying Nun Records, which begins right here with Episode 330.
